Work Style Reform
The COPRO Group has grown into a company with more than 3,000 employees on a consolidated basis as of March 31, 2023. We are working to establish an environment and expand systems to enable all employees to work with enthusiasm and contribute actively, in safety and health.
Main COPRO Group Initiatives
(1) Controlling long working hours
(2) Increasing awareness of occupational safety
(3) Establishing a system of equal pay for equal work
(1) Controlling long working hours
COPRO is implementing measures to control long working hours in accordance with the revisions to the Act on the Arrangement of Related Acts to Promote Work Style Reform enacted in April 2019. This is particularly necessary for engineers who work at construction sites and sometimes need to work overtime due to progress on construction. We are using smartphones distributed to all engineers (hereafter, “loaned smartphones”) and are continuing to diligently and efficiently manage the working hours of all employees working at client companies. These efforts are aimed at achieving full workstyle reform in the construction industry in 2024.
(2) Increasing awareness of occupational safety
To achieve zero occupational accidents, COPRO equips employees with knowledge on hazard management in introductory training and uses loaned smartphones to communicate information on a regular basis.
We also hold a safety conference called the COPRO Convention. The convention is aimed at establishing safe and healthy environments, achieving zero occupational accidents, and improving skills.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, we suspended the Copro Convention and in-person meetings from fiscal year ended March 31, 2021. We are currently considering online communication using a Web conferencing system.
(3) Establishing a system of equal pay for equal work
COPRO has raised the wage level of COPRO engineers based on the Equal Pay for Equal Work Guidelines enacted in April 2020. We have also adopted the labor-management agreement method and have established wage setting standards. Wages for work assigned are set at a level that is equal to or higher than the average wages for typical workers employed in the same type of work who possess similar skills and experience in the client company’s area.
